Talents for Ukraine by KSE Foundation recognizes people whose research and expertise advance Ukrainian science and contribute to its long-term development. This week, we are introducing three new winners: a geophysicist, a researcher in applied physics and nanomaterials, and a scientist working in regenerative medicine and gerontology.
Dmytro Hlavatskyi is a geophysicist, PhD in Geological Sciences, and Senior Researcher at the S. I. Subbotin Institute of Geophysics, NAS of Ukraine. He develops geophysical methods to monitor war-contaminated land and support its restoration, coordinates the international Land CoRe Ukraine consortium, and contributes to a US-Polish project on soil contamination. One of Ukraine’s few experts in environmental magnetism, he has authored publications in Q1 journals and secured over UAH 5.32 million in grant funding to strengthen research infrastructure and advance post-war land recovery in Ukraine.
“Being able to acknowledge mistakes and correct them in time is one of my professional principles,” comments Dmytro.
Liliia Deva holds a PhD in Applied Physics and Nanomaterials and is a researcher and assistant at the Department of General Physics at Lviv Polytechnic. She works in organic optoelectronics and nanoelectronics, developing materials for OLEDs and photodetectors. She is a co-author of international scientific publications, collective monographs, and a patent. She has contributed to several international projects and worked as a visiting researcher in the UK and Lithuania. She develops international research cooperation and physics education programs, while her research focuses on creating efficient electronic devices.
“I consciously step beyond what is familiar — I take on new challenges, learn new methods, and am not afraid to start something I have never done before,” emphasizes Liliia.
Vitalii Kyryk is a Doctor of Medical Sciences and a researcher in regenerative medicine and gerontology, heading the Department of Cell and Tissue Technologies at the Institute of Genetic and Regenerative Medicine of the M. D. Strazhesko National Scientific Center and the Laboratory of Pathophysiology and Immunology at the D. F. Chebotarev Institute of Gerontology. He investigates age-related aspects of stem cell regenerative potential and criteria for the quality and safety of cell transplants. He is a laureate of the Borys Paton National Prize of Ukraine and the author of more than 100 papers and 10 patents.
“In science, it is important not only to find answers, but also to know how to ask the right questions,” notes Vitalii.
