The second stage of Talents For Ukraine is focused on finding STEM talent, and this week we awarded grants to three fantastic people who are developing and popularizing STEM in Ukraine. We are happy to congratulate and support them!

⭐️ Sergiy Maksymenko is a Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, former President of the Kyiv Mathematical Society. The scientist is also the editor-in-chief of the journal Proceedings of the International Geometric Center, author of more than 60 mathematical articles, and organizer of mathematical summer schools and conferences. In 2014, he began recording video courses on various areas of mathematics on YouTube, when it was not yet a “trend.”

“Mathematicians ‘collect’ sequences of logical reasoning,” says Serhii.

⭐️ Oleksandr Zhuk is a computer science teacher who, through the use of the latest educational technologies, ensures the development of inclusive STEAM education in Zaporizhzhia region. He pays great attention to working with children with special educational needs. Oleksandr is the best teacher in Ukraine according to the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine, and is among the TOP 50 best teachers in the world according to the Global Teacher Prize.

“The most important thing in the teaching profession is the opportunity to develop and be filled with a positive attitude towards this world,” Oleksandr believes.

⭐️ Oleksandr Iksanov is a mathematician and teacher. Doctor of Science in Physics and Mathematics, Professor, Head of the Department of Operations Research, has a wide range of co-authors at European universities, and publishes articles in high-level foreign journals. He has published 2 monographs, 95 scientific articles and 12 textbooks. Oleksandr has received dozens of awards and grants for his work. He has led and participated in many international research projects.

“Freedom is the best thing about being a scientist,” says Oleksandr.
