Over three months, with support from the KSE Foundation, the NGO Base UA team evacuated 177 civilians from frontline areas in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions. Among those brought to safety were children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and individuals with reduced mobility.

Base UA specializes in comprehensive assistance for residents of frontline communities, offering evacuation, transportation, social support, and integration into host communities. The organization places special focus on evacuating people with disabilities and individuals with limited mobility who cannot leave on their own and require specialized care.

Impact of the Grant

Treacherous routes and relentless shelling cause evacuation vehicles to wear out rapidly, even as requests for emergency assistance continue to rise. Thanks to grant funding from the KSE Foundation, Base UA purchased an additional passenger van—a critical reinforcement to their fleet that enabled them to save more lives.

Over three months, volunteers completed 27 evacuation runs to frontline settlements across Donetsk Oblast (Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, and surrounding villages) and Kharkiv Oblast (Lozova), bringing 177 civilians out of harm’s way:

  • 22 children
  • 93 elderly residents
  • 31 people with disabilities
  • 20 individuals with reduced mobility.

The grant from the KSE Foundation provided vulnerable frontline residents with a vital lifeline, helping them escape active shelling and start anew in safety.

A Story of Rescue

Among those saved is Olena from Kramatorsk, who lost her leg due to an illness. Because of her medical condition, the team spent nearly a year searching for a shelter equipped to offer suitable living conditions and medical care.

Thanks to a collaborative effort among several organizations and the availability of suitable transport, Olena was successfully evacuated. She now lives safely in Kirovohrad Oblast, where local partners are helping her secure a family doctor, assign a social worker, and adjust to life in her new community.

Evacuation and Integration for Large Families

Base UA continues its rescue operations while expanding its scope of support. In September, the team launched the REBASE project, which helps large families from frontline areas not only evacuate from danger, but also purchase homes in central Ukraine, secure employment, and settle into safer communities.

Partnerships like the one with the KSE Foundation make it possible to rescue people from combat zones daily and walk alongside them until they are fully integrated into new communities.

KSE Foundation works daily to support people and the development of an innovative Ukraine through education, thanks to contributors and partners.
