Throughout the past month, KSE Foundation donors made contributions totaling $466,000 to support education during wartime and $364,000 for the defense, drone pilot training, medical services, and missions of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
“In November, we received $830,297 in charitable contributions, which is approximately 30.5 million hryvnias at the current exchange rate. For the first time since February 24, the majority of these funds were specifically allocated to support the education of Ukrainian youth affected by the war but remaining in Ukraine: 56% of the collected amount is earmarked for institutional support of the KSE University. While saving lives remains our priority, we are grateful that despite the war, we have the opportunity to support young people in gaining education,” noted Svitlana Denysenko, the director of the KSE Foundation.
Among the KSE scholarship recipients are youth who lost their homes due to the war, children of fallen defenders, and war veterans.
The majority of the contributions for the month were made during the charity evening “Sustaining Ukraine Through Education,” held by the KSE Foundation in Kyiv on November 19. It marked the beginning of the Christmas fundraising campaign of the Kyiv School of Economics, with the goal of raising $2 million to support the education of youth affected by the war.
The biggest donors in November were the financial group ICU and the UKRAINE HOUSE DC FOUNDATION, contributing $100,000 each.
In November, the contributions of donors were directed towards the construction of shelters in schools and kindergartens within the “ZAKHYSTOK: SAFE EDUCATION” project, support for education and talented Ukrainians, protective ammunition, communication tools, surveillance, and more.
“Almost $300,000 this month, as in previous months, we invested in the training of reconnaissance drone pilots in dozens of training centers. One of our main priorities is to provide Ukrainian defenders with technological advantage on the battlefield. We have purchased over 1,500 drones since the start of the full-scale invasion,” mentioned Svitlana Denysenko.
In November, the KSE Foundation allocated the most funds for the purchase of a helicopter for medical evacuation and support for rescue missions of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
Overall, the KSE Foundation has already acquired two medical evacuation helicopters for the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. The supply is carried out as part of the initiative of the Kyiv School of Economics students “Donate To Evacuate” and in collaboration with DefDev (UKRAINIAN DEFENSE DEVELOPMENT CHARITY FUND).
