This year, the official app of Khan Academy, one of the world’s leading international online educational platforms, became available in Ukrainian. Ukrainian schoolchildren can now access free, interactive lessons in Ukrainian across 12 general education subjects, including mathematics, chemistry, biology, and economics. The project is being implemented by the KSE Foundation in collaboration with faculty and students from KSE University, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
Within the official Khan Academy app, users can now take courses in Ukrainian in the following subjects:
Early Math, Pre-Algebra, Arithmetic, Algebra Basics, Algebra 2, High School Statistics, Precalculus, High School Geometry, Basic Geometry and Measurement, Middle School Biology, High School Chemistry, and two topics from Microeconomics.
As on the uk.khanacademy.org platform, all educational content in the app is fully accessible in the form of video lessons, notes, quizzes, and practice exercises. Crucially, all lessons and accompanying materials can be downloaded in advance and accessed offline. This enables Ukrainian students to receive high-quality international education even during wartime, despite unstable internet connections or power outages.
The Khan Academy app is free to download from the platform’s official website and is available to all users of Android and iOS devices. For iOS users, if Ukrainian is not set as the system language, it can be activated in the app settings. Registration is simple and does not require a subscription—it can even be completed through an existing Google account. The learning experience is comfortable and distraction-free, as the platform does not display any advertisements that could divert a student’s attention from the educational process.
The number of Ukrainian-language programs on Khan Academy continues to grow. As of now, all school-grade math courses are available in Ukrainian. New educational content for High School Biology and High School Physics will be added soon.
More than 70 specialists have been involved in various stages of the Ukrainian localization project. These include translators, voice-over artists, auditors, editors, pre- and post-production specialists, education experts, and volunteers.
