Introducing the new winners of the Talents for Ukraine grant program from the KSE Foundation! This week, we’re sharing the stories of a hygiene doctor from Kremenchuk who is working on environmental projects, a mathematician researching linear boundary problems for differential equations, and an illustrator creating posters for protests around the world.
⭐️Yurii Spodin, a hygienist from Kremenchuk, specializing in developing environmental protection projects, has collaborated with the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the PROMIS Project to create 15 initiatives aimed at improving air and water quality, waste management, and public health. As a result, the “Kremenchuk City Development Strategy” was recognized by experts as the best project among similar documents developed in 16 other Ukrainian cities. His project “Kremenchuk: A City of Sustainable Development” received positive feedback from the Scientific and Technical Council of Kremenchuk National University and aligns with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. Yuriy has also implemented innovative solutions, such as using oil sludge as boiler fuel, which has reduced pollution and brought economic benefits to the Kremenchuk Oil Refinery.
«My life credo is that innovation is both a mode of activity and a lifestyle», says Yurii.
⭐️Olena Atlasiuk is a mathematician and a research associate at the Institute of Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, where she studies linear boundary-value problems for systems of differential equations. She received a Neuron IOCB Tech Endowment Fund grant and completed a fellowship at the Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences. She is currently researching the heat equation. Olena promotes mathematics and is a member of the scientific councils of the European Mathematical Society Young Academy and the European Women in Mathematics organization. Her goal is to establish a Society of Ukrainian Women in Mathematics.
«Life is a wonderful adventure that should be enjoyed fully at every moment», сcomments Olena.
⭐️Mykhailo Skop, known under the pseudonym #NEIVANMADE, is a Ukrainian artist, illustrator, and Doctor of Philosophy. He creates war posters that are used in protests around the world. Mykhailo’s works have been featured in over 50 exhibitions and are held in international collections in the USA, Belgium, Germany, and more. Through his art, Mykhailo seeks to capture contemporary Ukrainian identity, creating a modern «myth»’ by revealing deep cultural contexts through mythology and collective memory.
«Creativity is a very specific language, so it is crucial to understand who you are speaking to and what message you want to convey», says Mykhailo.
