Winners and prizewinners of the All-Ukrainian Chemistry Olympiad spent four days conducting laboratory research, carrying out experiments and learning from lecturers and scientists at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University.
Only 8% of Ukrainian schools have STEM laboratories, while just 17–23% of science classrooms are equipped with modern facilities. These figures come from an audit conducted by the State Service for Education Quality of Ukraine. Due to a lack of equipment and laboratory infrastructure, many school students still learn natural sciences primarily through theory, without opportunities to conduct hands-on research and experiments.

Through the Da Vinci Ukraine grant programme by KSE Foundation and STEM Talent Fund, we support the development of STEM education and academic Olympiads in Ukraine, helping more students access quality scientific training and practical learning opportunities.
Thanks to the support of Da Vinci Ukraine, 45 school students — winners and prizewinners of the All-Ukrainian Chemistry Olympiad — took part in the Summer Chemistry Camp in Chernivtsi. The camp was organised by Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University and the NGO Bukovyna Innovatsiina.
Over four days, students in grades 8–10 immersed themselves in practical chemistry. They conducted laboratory research, carried out experiments and solved scientific problems alongside university lecturers and researchers. This format allowed participants not only to deepen their theoretical knowledge but also to apply it in practice, work with laboratory equipment and experience what it is like to be a researcher.
A special highlight of the camp was its final day, when three silver medallists of the International Chemistry Olympiad joined the participants. They met with the students, shared their experiences of preparing for international competitions and offered advice.
For the participants, the meeting was an opportunity to connect with Ukrainian Olympiad alumni who have already represented the country on the international stage. Some of the students who attended the camp may join the team representing Ukraine at the International Chemistry Olympiad next year.

By supporting educational initiatives like this through Da Vinci Ukraine, KSE Foundation and STEM Talent Fund are creating more opportunities for talented students to develop their scientific potential, gain practical skills and prepare for international academic competitions.
