The Talents for Ukraine program by KSE Foundation recognizes Ukrainians whose knowledge and professional achievements contribute to the development of science, education, and technology in the country. The grant supports specialists for their talent, expertise, and work outcomes that have practical significance for society. This week’s winners include a scientist, an engineer, and a teacher.

Mariana Gumenna is a Doctor of Chemical Sciences and a Senior Research Fellow at the IMC NASU. She specializes in the synthesis of new types of nanoparticles and polymer composites based on oligomeric silsesquioxanes with reactive, ionic, and photoactive groups. Her research has applications in energy, electrochemistry, medicine, and photonics. She is the author of 152 scientific publications, including 20 articles in leading international journals, as well as 14 Ukrainian patents. She actively collaborates with Ukrainian and international research centers and combines fundamental research with applied developments.

«What I value most in people is reliability», — comments Mariana.

Denys Miroshnychenko is a Ukrainian scientist and engineer, Doctor of Technical Sciences, and Head of the Department of Oil, Gas, and Solid Fuel Processing Technologies at the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute.» He is the author of over 500 scientific publications, 23 patents, and 11 monographs and textbooks. His research focuses on integrating fundamental studies with practical industrial applications, as well as on developing technologies for the efficient and environmentally safe use of traditional and alternative fuels.

«For me, the key is continuous renewal of competencies and a conscious step beyond the boundaries of one’s own specialization», — notes Denys.

Denys Denysov is a physics teacher and Deputy Director for Academic Affairs at the Central Ukrainian Scientific Lyceum. He initiated the introduction of the subject Robotics and the 3D Modeling club, and is the founder and coordinator of the school’s STEAM laboratory. He works at the intersection of science, engineering, and education, implementing project-based and inquiry-based learning. He has developed and delivers professional development programs for teachers, including Teach&Tech, STEM-Boost Camp, and AI for Teachers, aimed at integrating modern technologies, STEAM approaches, and artificial intelligence into the educational process.

«The greatest value for me lies in the very process of work and in seeing my students grow — intellectually, personally, and professionally—and ultimately find their own path in life,» — emphasizes Denys.
