The Kyiv School of Economics has announced the names of five students who have become the new recipients of the Memorial Scholarships established in honor of the fallen Heroes of the KSE community — Iryna Tsybukh, Ruslan Chopiuk, and Yar Batoh. These scholarships recognize students who share the values and ideals of the Heroes, their commitment to serving society, and their determination to drive change in Ukraine.

The scholarships were created together with the families, friends, and professors of the KSE community Heroes to honor their memory and pass on their values to future generations of students. Each year, the support is awarded to undergraduate and graduate students who embody these principles and strive to contribute to the development of society.

This year, the Yar Batoh Scholarship was awarded to Daryna Pidhorna (Master’s program Memory Studies and Public History). She received the award for her outstanding academic research in the field of historical memory and her work on the idea of establishing a truth and reconciliation commission in Ukraine — reflecting Yar Batoh’s dedication to the pursuit of truth, the fight against disinformation, and support for others.

The Iryna Tsybukh Scholarship was awarded to Daria Kyryliuk (Master’s program Public Policy and Governance) for her active civic engagement and consistent promotion of equality and justice. Through her work, she continues Iryna Tsybukh’s legacy of serving society and protecting human rights.

The Ruslan Chopiuk Scholarship this year was awarded to three KSE students who combine academic excellence with strong civic engagement:

  • Anna Korzhenko (Bachelor’s program Software Engineering) — for her ability to combine academic achievements with active involvement in social projects supporting youth during the war, reflecting Ruslan Chopiuk’s values of honesty, responsibility, and community service.

  • Maria Karas (Master’s program Economics and Big Data) — for her outstanding academic performance and her ability to apply knowledge for the benefit of the university and society, continuing Ruslan’s principle of living a life that leaves a positive mark on the world.

  • Yulia Ivanus (Bachelor’s program Economics and Big Data) — for combining academic success with volunteering and civic activity, embodying honesty, responsibility, and dedication to society — qualities that defined Ruslan’s life.

The KSE Memorial Scholarships aim to support students who demonstrate strong academic performance, leadership qualities, and civic engagement. They provide not only educational opportunities but also resources for implementing projects that benefit society.
