Three mathematics stars today became winners of the Talents For Ukraine grant program and received grants for their own development from the KSE Foundation!
⭐️Oleksandr Lagodzinskyi – a teacher, researcher, and science popularizer. He calls his activity “Mathematization of society.” He is an inventor, author of scientific articles, and organizer of events aimed at popularizing science. Since 2018, all events within the framework of the Young Scientists Council at the Institute of Mathematics have involved his support and active participation. For example, Oleksandr is one of the organizers of International Pi Day in Ukraine.
“Mathematics is not just numbers and formulas. Mathematics is a language, a tool, and a means of understanding the world around us,” shares Oleksandr.
⭐️Olena Vaneeva – a Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, a scientist, and a mathematics popularizer who represents Ukraine honorably on the international scientific stage. In 2020, she became the first female mathematician and the first Ukrainian to win the International Rising Talents science competition. In 2021, the Ukrainian Institute included her in the “30 Independents” project, for contributing to the development of Ukraine in her field. In 2024, she was listed in Forbes as one of the “15 Leading Women in Ukrainian Science.” She is also a Ukrainian ambassador in the Committee for Women in Mathematics of the International Mathematical Union.
“I see my mission as continuing to represent Ukraine honorably on the international scientific arena and igniting the hearts of Ukrainian youth with a love for mathematics,” says Olena.
⭐️Dmytro Nomirovskyi – a teacher and author of textbooks, which students across Ukraine use to learn mathematics. Although publishing educational literature is commercially unprofitable, Dmytro does not give up and continuously engages sponsors and partners for new editions. His upcoming plans include a new book, a mathematics club for students, and an educational course for adults.
“The best thing about being a teacher is seeing that today your student can already do what they couldn’t understand or do just yesterday,” says Dmytro.
